Your first week

Your first weeks in the UK are about settling into daily life and getting ready to study. We’ve put together the essentials to help you start your journey with confidence.

Keep an eye on your emails, we’ll send your enrolment details before you begin, with important tasks to complete ahead of arrival.

Induction & enrolment

Begin your studies by attending all induction sessions. You'll receive an email with pre‑enrolment instructions. After completing it, the Enrolment Team will finalise your registration and provide your timetable. At enrolment, you'll also receive your student ID card, which gives you access to study spaces and library services.

Course introduction

Review your module outlines, assessment methods, and deadlines. This is the perfect time to ask questions and get clarity on what’s expected.

Timetable & systems setup

Access your class schedule through Publish, and learn how to use the university’s online tools like Blackboard for lecture notes, assignments, and announcements.

Welcome sessions

These include introductions to your faculty and staff members, an overview of your centre’s facilities, and practical guidance for the term ahead. Join events and activities to meet fellow students, connect with support services, and explore societies or opportunities outside the classroom.

VLE (Blackboard)

You’ll be shown how to navigate your Virtual Learning Environment: Weblearn, to access lecture/slides, submit assessments and engage in online discussions.

Meet new peers

Your first weeks are a great chance to meet classmates, join induction activities, and take part in Freshers events. These moments will help you make friends, settle into campus life, and feel part of the Ulster community from the very beginning.
