If you're studying the International Foundation Programme, here is what you can expect.

Pre-arrival webinars
Our team will plan an online meeting with all new students several weeks before they arrive in the UK.

Welcome meetings
During induction week, you'll have a one-on-one meeting with a member of our team. This allows us to learn more about you and discuss our comprehensive student support services.

Student assemblies
Throughout the programme, all participants will meet every 2-3 weeks. These assemblies will cover various topics, including employability skills, as well as discussions on diversity and equality matters.
Orientation week
During the third week of your course, you will meet our teaching staff, support team and other students. There is also an opportunity to join catch-up sessions for late arrivals. Some activities during orientation week are:
- ‘Being an international student in the UK’ – talk by the Solent international support team
- ‘Cooking essentials’ – workshop run by staff from the Department of Sport and Health at Southampton Solent University.
- ‘Taster sports session’ – students get to try various sports activities in the Sports Complex at Southampton Solent University.

- ‘Mental health and wellbeing’ – talk by the wellbeing team at Southampton Solent University.

Progression review meetings
You'll have a one-to-one meeting with your teacher and the pathway management team to delve into your engagement, attendance, and performance on the course. This is your opportunity to talk about any learning barriers or support requirements you may have.

Creative show
If you are studying the Creative Industries Pathway, there's an exciting opportunity to showcase your final project at the end-of-year degree show, which forms part of your assessment. This event will be attended by all students from the programme and relevant faculty members from Solent University.

Academic poster exhibition
In the 'Academic Language in Context' module, you'll collaborate in groups to create an academic poster centred around the theme of sustainability, tailored to your field of study. This project not only enhances your understanding of the subject matter but also cultivates essential 21st-century skills crucial for your future professional career.
