WORKING WITH STAKEHOLDERS FOR CONTENT COLLECTION & CREATION

Alone we do so little, together we can do so much. – Helen Keller

It can be tough, constantly coming up with new and innovative ideas for social posts. That’s why working together with the rest of the marketing team and the wider company is very important. It helps to showcase the business in a better light, share the hard work of our colleagues and fuels our creativity.

  • We work closely with the student recruitment team, and we’ve set up a process for them to email us with photos/videos of their recent events, agent visits, etc with information for us to use on social media. We expect to receive these hopefully once a month.
  • We work with student relations for them to share their activities, and photos of events they host.
  • We work with the student welfare team to collate things we should highlight on our social platforms and to highlight their current work.
  • We frequently receive content from the marketing team of short clips which we can link together to create short reels for social, covering fun things to do, discovering areas near the campus, BTS, etc

You can see a list of stakeholders on the social media strategy. This content will then be saved in this folder – Company Wide Social Media Content and it will be down to the social media team to allocate what is used and when. All content gathered will be shared with the comms liaison/s for adhoc use.

How to store the content-

  • Name the folder with the name of the person the content's come from, the event name, campus/partner and date received.
  • If the content is more specific than being named like this, duplicate this document to record the content information for future use.
  • IMPORTANT- If consent is not given for use outside of the social post, include this in the title of the file AND the document.

We don’t just work internally with stakeholders, but there are also times where we collaborate with our partners and brands to bring opportunities to students or to showcase what we’ve got to offer as a business.

Partnership Collaboration Examples

  • International Foundation Program student graduation ceremonies, presentations, or award events. Examples of this are the IFP Solent presentations which happen at the end of their year. Or when NU or Solent students complete their IFP, progress onto their chosen degree and graduate.
  • Collecting imagery for events, or announcements when we aren’t able to get them. For example, the gold star awards for teaching excellence from Solent or graduation imagery of our students from NU, etc.
  • Getting hoodies from NU for free, in exchange for content which can be used by them to promote their international students
  • Brand collaboration ExamplesWhen we worked with The Tree, Boost and Thomas Skinner for them to hand out free samples and play games with students on the NUL campus.
  • The student relations team often get free things from brands to hand out, such as sim cards from GifGaff which have £5 on them

When you collect content from partners or have a collaboration with a brand you need to analyze the content and ensure you’re looping in all relevant members of the marketing team. Although they may not be able to use the content there and then, it might be something that they can do in future. Ensuring we’re looping relevant teams in, ensures the marketing department has a wider view of what’s happening in the wider company.
